Heifer International Village
Heifer International is an organization whose “…mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.” They have made a huge impact in communities all over the world by giving families something they can use (such as an animal) to improve their standard of living and training on how to make the best use of the gift. When the animal produces offspring, the people are expected to pass the gift along to others. In this way, the gift is multiplied many times and keeps growing. But there is much more to the organization than can be summarized in the space we have here.
Heifer Village is the educational arm of the organization. Here you will find “programs and events throughout the year for school groups, families or just anyone who wants to drop in and learn about world hunger.” If you are a fan of sustainable design in architecture, you can also tour the LEED Platinum certified buildings that house the International Headquarters.
